Mechanic’s Lien Legislation

HBA urging Governor to sign mechanic’s lien law reform that MO General Assembly passed on May 14, 2010. Legislation helps ensure construction financing by decreasing risks to title insurance underwriters. Governor has until July 14 to sign bill into law. Presuming the Governor signs legislation, HBA members interested in attending HBA seminar on impact of legislation should contact Stephanie Sikes. HBA must receive 30 registrants before scheduling seminar.

MO State Rep. John Diehl announced publicly on June 15, 2010 that he is planning to pre-file legislation that would permanently establish a moratorium on requiring residential fire sprinkler systems. Rep. Diehl announced his plan after hearing recent media coverage surrounding the possible adoption of mandatory residential fire sprinklers by St. Louis County.
